We take a relaxing, social stroll through the old town of Aalborg to visit three specially selected pubs. As we walk, we pause to gaze at and hear fascinating stories of many of its historic buildings.
The Danes love of beer puts them in the top ten consumers in Europe. The founding of the Danish Beer Enthusiasts in 1998 consolidated this and started a revolution for quality and range of beers. This led to an explosion in the number of microbreweries, all leading the way to the brewing of an exciting range of traditional top and bottom brewed ales.
Come and sample some of them whilst you share a bar with the locals. Learn a little about our new and exciting traditional beers or, a little about Aalborg, Danish life, culture; in fact anything, there are no banned topics.
We also walk down Jomfrue Ane Gade (Virgin Ane Street), affectionately known throughout Denmark as 'The Street'. A street of bars, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants; Aalborg's 'entertainment centre', a place where all can enjoy themselves.
At the start of the tour you will be presented with your own boxed, personal presentation beer kit containing:
yours to take away as a memento at the end of the tour.
Armed with your 15 cl. glass and 6 beer tokens, we'll take a gentle stroll to your first pub. Once there, select your exciting, quality, local brew with help from the bar staff or myself. Take a seat and enjoy your selection whilst we chat about beer, Aalborg, Denmark, or whatever you wish. Before leaving for our next pub, don't forget to ask the barman to wash your glass in readiness for your next fill-up! As we make our way between visits to our pubs, we pass by many of the famous and very interesting historic sights of the old city, e. g.: Jens Bangs House, Budolfi Cathedral, Monastery of the Holy Ghost, Aalborg's only brew pub and the Old Market Square, to name a few.
Gentle stroll on cobblestoned and paved surfaces throughout, at a pace set to suit you.
Generally accessible for wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties however, cobblestones are uneven. Access may also be restricted to some venues due to steps/stairs.
