Architectural gems, for example:

  • Gallery of Modern Art (Kunsten). Designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Alto and home to 20-century modern art.
  • Utzon Center the last design by Aalborg’s own ‘son’, architect Jørn Utzon (of Sydney Opera House fame). The Centre is his legacy for students of architectural design at Aalborg University.
  • The House of Music - Opera House (Musikkenshus). Designed by Austrian architects Co-op Himmelblau, an imposing structure of straight and curved lines, offering imposing views of the Limfjord and the harbour front from its 3-floor balcony.
  • Larsen Waterfront by architect Henning Larsen, of Copenhagen Opera House fame. 256 university student flats, on the waterfront, next to Aalborg University’s Creative Studies Campus.
  • Royal Customs House and General Post Office. Hack Kampmann's National Romantic style gems.
